Performs phlebotomy and collection procedures and processes related to the collection of whole blood (and/or blood components) from donors according to the organization’s policies and procedures, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, and American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) standards.

Transport blood, blood products, campus mail, supplies, and medical equipment between processing/distribution centers, branches, blood drive sites and hospitals.   Position Schedule: This position will work 7:00am to 3:30pm Friday through Tuesday; Wednesday and Thursday off.  

Performs routine unregulated laboratory tasks as directed.   Shift: This full-time position will work an 8-hr schedule on 2nd shift (2:00 pm - 10:30 pm), 5 days a week, to include rotating weekends and holidays.

Provides leadership, instruction, and guidance to the collection staff during blood drives or at branches. Performs phlebotomy and collection procedures and processes related to the collection of blood and/or blood components from donors according to the organization’s policies and procedures, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, and American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) standards. If assigned to mobiles, responsible for driving the blood mobile.

Directs medical and technical aspects of blood center operations including transfusion services, reference laboratories, donor services, therapeutic apheresis and cellular therapy. Provides medical direction and consultation for transfusion medicine-related clinical services at healthcare facilities served by the organization. Participates in donor communications related to eligibility for blood donation, deferral and counseling and supports donor services staff in the medical management of donors. Participates in research as indicated. Acts as Laboratory Director under CLIA provisions.

Recruits potential blood donors at promotional, community, and corporate blood drives to ensure a drive meets its desired projection.
