Overview

Oversees the processing of all transactions associated with the purchasing of supplies, services, equipment, and office products required to support the organization. Monitors, manages and maintains inventory levels for all supplies to include maximum and minimum levels at all OneBlood locations and departments.

Responsibilities

  • Manages staff by recruiting, training and providing on-going coaching; scheduling work duties, monitors and evaluates job results
  • Negotiates, maintains and coordinates with vendors of materials, equipment and supplies; along with determining product availability and terms of sales
  • Prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders of critical and noncritical supplies and equipment for departments of assigned service area
  • Assists with market analysis and delivery systems in order to assess present and future material availability
  • Controls inventory of routine and critical supplies and manages standing orders for supplies and services; communicates with internal customers on order status and discrepancies
  • Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
  • Maintains records and documents as required including purchase orders, vendor information and documentation and provides reports as needed.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:  

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of experience in related field with at least two (2) years of supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND DESIGNATIONS:  

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required. Certified Purchasing Manager, Black Belt LSS and/or ISM certification preferred. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

  • Knowledge of warehousing processes & procedures
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Skill in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of position
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of time
  • Ability to commute with personal transportation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Functions involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 25 pounds).  Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment.  Tasks involve climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Functions are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as inclement weather, atmospheric elements and pathogenic substances.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
