Overview

Oversees fleet operations within assigned region(s) and enhances the quality and efficiency of the operation by ensuring vehicle performance, maintaining regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees large scale fleet operations within assigned region(s), including vehicle maintenance, repairs and compliance with DOT regulations
  • Conducts routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs to ensure functionality of vans, cars, small trucks, trailers, and diesel/gasoline engine buses, while maintaining compliance with safety standards
  • Ensures accurate and timely documentation of inspections, services, and repairs
  • Performs unscheduled vendor inspections to ensure repair compliance, verify quality assurance, and provide feedback upon completion of repair work
  • Submits weekly vehicle condition reports to Corporate Fleet Director
  • Collaborates with fleet team to update and maintain vehicle status records
  • Leads efforts to reduce defects, prevent incidents, and decrease operational costs through continuous improvements initiatives
  • Analyzes vendor performance and provides reporting to ensure quality and accountability
  • Works closely with cross-functional departments to schedule maintenance and minimize downtime.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:  

Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of fleet management experience to include contractor/vendor management; or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.   

  

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND DESIGNATIONS:  

Valid state driver’s license; clean driving record. ASE and/or diesel engine repair certification preferred. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

  • Knowledge of fleet management operations
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, health and safety protocols, environmental compliance standards
  • Knowledge of contracting procedures and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Skill in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time

Functions involve the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work and may require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of heavy objects or materials (up to 25 pounds). Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment. Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Functions are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as inclement weather, atmospheric elements and pathogenic substances.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
