Medical Technologist (2 positions available)

Ensure the safe collection, testing, analysis, and distribution of blood and blood products for medical use.

The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the duties and responsibilities performed for this position.  Duties for this position include:

• Accepts, verifies, and processes incoming blood and blood components or samples for proper storage and application
• Monitors all testing processes related to specimens and blood products to identify errors or potential errors for correction
• Performs and interprets various testing procedures on donor and patient specimens as well as blood products, repeating tests where appropriate; and performing quality control testing on laboratory equipment, including maintenance and calibration

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Required: U.S. Bachelor’s degree in Biology and two (2) years’ experience in the collection of blood or blood product samples; monitoring and maintaining the quality of blood products to meet regulatory standards; keeping detailed logs and inputting blood sample data; isolating, identifying, and preparing blood specimens and quality control samples for examination and testing; and cleaning, calibrating, resetting, and maintaining laboratory equipment.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND DESIGNATIONS:

Valid State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required.
