Under the direction of the Director or designee, provides leadership and technical expertise, coordinates workflow, manages staff scheduling and payroll functions, and performs training and quality activities. Ensures that testing is completed in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with regulatory guidelines and organizational policies and procedures. Has responsibility for oversight of staff. Performs the essential functions of the Medical Technologist.
Shift: This position will work second shift to include occasionally working on the weekends.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in medical technology, biological science or related field from an accredited college or university. Three (3) or more years in a clinical laboratory, preferably blood banking environment including one (1) or more years’ experience in supervision and management experience or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND DESIGNATIONS:
Valid and current Florida Technologist license in Immunohematology or Blood Banking, supervisor license preferred. In certain specialty laboratories performing HLA, molecular testing or patient testing, other Florida licenses may be required.

Ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 20 pounds).

Functions are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as inclement weather, atmospheric elements and pathogenic substances.
