Overview

Manages organizational-level strategic, operational and information technology projects in accordance with the Project Management Office Methodology and toolset. Handles multiple projects simultaneously and demonstrates a sense of urgency and ownership to drive projects to completion.

Responsibilities

The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the duties and responsibilities performed within this classification.   • Works with assigned project team(s) to define and manage all project requirements
  • Creates and maintains all PMO related project administration documents including (but not limited to) project charters, schedules, budgets, issue logs and status reports
  • Directs, coordinates and reviews all deliverables specified by the project
  • Manages the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of assigned projects
  • Facilitates project meetings and coordinates the work of the project team
  • Manages project communications and end user expectations
  • Proactively works to resolve project issues
  • Properly documents all significant project activities, events and issues using the PMO’s Portfolio and Project Management software
  • Provides formal training on the processes used to effectively manage projects to assigned project teams
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to junior PMO staff members and to project team members as needed
  • Acts as a PMO subject matter expert resource to the end user community
  • Prepares administrative reports and project updates for management.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors degree in a computer science or business related field from an accredited college or university. Three (3) or more years of progressively responsible experience in project management; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND DESIGNATIONS:

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply federal and state regulations as they relate to quality assurance and regulatory affairs
  • Ability to organize work for timely completion
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to delegate, manage and supervise effectively
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Skill in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time
  • Ability to commute with personal transportation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 20 pounds).

Functions are regularly performed inside without potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as inclement weather, atmospheric elements and pathogenic substances.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
