Overview

Assists in providing oversight in the operation and maintenance of the organization’s fleet of company-owned motor vehicles

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership to assigned staff; hires, provides ongoing development, and conducts annual reviews
  • Oversees large scale fleet operations including maintenance and repair and DOTS regulations
  • Assists with budget including expenditures; liaison between vendors/contractors to ensure services comply with company standards and quality; verifies service completion
  • Conducts assessments to identify needed process improvement
  • Conducts routine inspections, preventive maintenance and minor repairs to ensure proper functioning of vehicles (includes vans, cars, small trucks, trailers, and diesel/gasoline engine buses)
  • Test drives vehicles to ensure proper operation and repairs
  • Ensures proper documentation of inspections, services and repairs per company standards
  • Ensures service areas are maintained clean and organized
  • Performs unscheduled vendor inspections to ensure repair compliance, quality assurance, and feedback after the repair process is completed.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Associates’ degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of fleet management experience to include contractor/vendor management or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND DESIGNATIONS:

Valid state applicable driver’s license; clean driving record. Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License. ASE and/or diesel engine repair certification; preferred

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of fleet management operations
  • Knowledge of contracting procedures and compliance
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices and procedures, environmental safety practices and procedures
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Skill in Microsoft Office applications
  • Travel 50% of the time

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Functions involve the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately

physically demanding work and may require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or

pulling of heavy objects or materials (up to 50 pounds). Tasks that require moving

objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of

proper techniques and moving equipment. Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping,

kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
