Overview

Responsible for Donor Services quality assurance and quality control functions in specific collection areas.

  • Demonstrates best practices and professionalism in the field
  • Reviews the applicable blood donation processes including the whole blood registration process and quality control requirements
  • Reviews the quality control functions of Donor Services to the level of subject matter expert
  • Performs and documents the quality assurance and quality control functions in Donor Services.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school; and one year related experience and/or training (medical background preferred); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND DESIGNATIONS:

None

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply federal and state regulations as they relate to quality assurance and regulatory affairs
  • Must be competent in FDA regulations applicable to Donor Services
  • Knowledge of and ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals in the quality system essentials including Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) standards
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to organize work for timely completion
  • Ability to speak, write, read, and understand English
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
  • Basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Skill in operating office equipment
  • Ability to commute with personal transportation

Tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 50 pounds). Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment. Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking or standing. Some tasks require manual dexterity, visual acuity, hearing acuity, extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station, and extended periods of standing.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. 

 

Functions are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as inclement weather, atmospheric elements and pathogenic substances. Performance of this job could expose the employee to blood-borne pathogens. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
