Overview

Works in conjunction with the Director of Corporate Facilities to manage, maintain and operate facilities and assets under their department.  Responsible for the collection of up-to-date condition assessments on owned and leased infrastructure assets and the regular updating of same.  Also, works in conjunction with Director of Corporate Facilities to oversee budget management and compliance with licensing regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in a fiscally responsible and technically accurate Capital Plan for assets
  • Reviews asset capital projects and establishes a priority program based upon available company funding, risk and need
  • Communicates between department heads with managing consultants and contractors; participates in on-site consultations, building audits, inspections and capital project monitoring
  • Attends regular site inspections of facilities to document scope of work required
  • Prepares and recommends operating and long-term budgets for corporate facilities; monitors facilities budgets including operating, capital and reserves and highlights any issues
  • Prepares and presents administrative and status reports on facility matters, policy recommendations, regulated forms, guides and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Manages and implements the asset management program, including the updating of condition assessments on assets and the regular ongoing updates as required Including retention of as/built drawings, records or infrastructure and assets
  • Undertakes special projects and performs other duties as assigned in accordance with departmental or corporate objectives.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of experience with facilities and commercial construction management to include contractor/vendor management; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or experience.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND DESIGNATIONS:

Valid state Driver’s license and clean driving record required.  Certification in Building Maintenance, BOMA Foundations or Real Estate Management, PMP or International Facility Management Association (IFMA) preferred.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of facilities management fundamentals, construction methods, machines and tools, architectural and engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of facility maintenance planning, property inventory methods, facility condition inspection and assessment methods
  • Knowledge of statements or scopes of work, acquisition and contracting procedures, and building codes
  • Knowledge of service contracts, contractor performance evaluations, facility warranty agreements, and physical plant operation
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices and procedures, environmental safety practices and procedures
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Skill in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Functions involve the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work and may require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or

pulling of heavy objects or materials (up to 20 pounds). Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of

 

proper techniques and moving equipment.  Must be able to safely operate assigned vehicles possibly long distances.

Functions are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as inclement weather, atmospheric elements and pathogenic substances. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
